Dora the Explorer Top Cartoon Family
Dora the Explorer is an American animated television series that is carried on the Nickelodeon cable television network. A pilot episode for the series aired in 1999, and Dora the Explorer became a regular series in 2000. The show was created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh, Rick Velleu and Eric Weiner. The series also airs on Noggin. The show aired on CBS until September 2006. A Spanish-dubbed version first aired as part of a Nick en español block on NBC Universal-owned Telemundo through September 2006; since April of 2008, this version of the program airs on Univision as part of the Planeta U block.
Dora the Explorer has been extremely successful, including $1 billion in sales in 2004 alone
In every episode, Dora goes on an exploring trip to find something or help somebody. Dora always asks the viewers at home to help her find new ways to get to the places with the help of Map. Dora also teaches children Spanish.
She sees everyone equally and mainly good no matter who the character, this noted at her not holding a grudge against Swiper for all the items he's swiped from her party. She acts against villains only when innocence sakes' depend on it and compromise is mostly impossible or unless she is somewhat strictly required to, but even still, she has yet to hold any true accounts of actual anger. Dora is very kind and will always give others a chance to try their hands at certain task for the simple thrill of seeing them excel in the skill even when/if she herself could have possibly fulfill the task faster and/or more accurately.
Though Dora spends very little time indoors, she still best values her family and its background and all who reside at her house. She seems to always want to influence her traditions and customs to those who have yet to know but still she is very subtle in doing so and wouldn't force her beliefs on others.
Dora openly loves her family. She loves Boots too. He is also her best friend since she saved his beloved red boots from being swiped by Swiper.
Dora enjoys sports. She was on a baseball team with her best friend Boots and her other friends and was coached by her father (his employment status was never changed after that). She loves soccer and is very good at it. Dora also speaks Spanish, teaching small words and phrases to the viewers.
Dora is also quite the musician shown mostly as having skill in playing the wooden flute.
The character was voiced by Kathleen Herles in every season, until she was replaced by Caitlin Sanchez
Early concepts of Dora had her as a blond girl of European ancestry. The character was originally based on one of the creator's (Rick Velleu) nieces named Lilli(wikipedia)
Curious George Popular Children Cartoons
Curious George is the protagonist of a series of popular children's books by the same name, written by Hans Augusto Rey and Margret Rey. The books feature a curious monkey named George, who is brought from his home in Africa by "The Man with The Yellow Hat" to live with him in a big city.
Around the world, the adventures of Curious George have been translated in many languages, and George takes on names such as "Peter Pedal" in Denmark, "Nysgjerrige Nils" in Norway, "Nicke Nyfiken" in Sweden, "Hitomane Kozaru" in Japan, "George Ha'Sakran" in Israel and "Jorge el Curioso" in Spanish speaking countries. In the United Kingdom, George was originally called "Zozo", apparently to avoid using the name of the then king George VI for a monkey.
In each of the books, Curious George is identified in the text as a monkey, though in the illustrations he does not correspond exactly to any non-fictional species of monkey (and has more of the characteristics of an ape, especially a chimpanzee). (wikipedia)
Mighty Mouse Popular Cartoon
Mighty Mouse is an animated superhero mouse character created by the Terrytoons studio for 20th Century Fox.
he character was created by story man, Izzy Klein, as a super-powered housefly named "Superfly" Studio head Paul Terry changed the character into a toon mouse instead. Originally created as a parody of Superman, he first appeared in 1942 in a theatrical animated short entitled The Mouse of Tomorrow. The original name of the character was Super Mouse, but it was soon changed to Mighty Mouse when Paul Terry learned that another character with the same name was being published in comic books. Super Mouse appeared briefly in the Marvel comic book interpretation of the character, and was nicknamed "Terry the First", as he was the first version of the character.
Mighty Mouse originally had a blue costume with a red cape, like Superman, but over time this changed to a yellow costume with a red cape.[1] As with other imitations of Superman; Mighty Mouse's super powers allow him to fly, be incredibly strong, and invulnerable. He has demonstrated the use of "X-ray vision" in at least one cartoon, while during several cartoons he used a form of super-hypnosis that even allowed him to command inanimate objects and turn back time (as in the cartoons The Johnstown Flood and Krakatoa). Other cartoons have him leaving a red contrail as he flies which he can manipulate like a band of solid flexible matter when he so desires.
The initial formula consisted of an extended setup of a crisis which needs extraordinary help to resolve and Mighty Mouse appears to save the day.
Mighty Mouse was originally voiced by Roy Halee, later Tom Morrison provided the character's voice in some cartoons.
The early, operatic Mighty Mouse cartoons often portrayed Mighty Mouse as a ruthless fighter. He would dole out a considerable amount of punishment, subduing the cats to the point of giving up their evil plan and running away. Mighty Mouse would then chase down the escaping cats, and continue beating them mercilessly, usually hurling or punching them miles away to finish the fight. A favorite move is to suddenly fly up to just under a much larger opponent's chin and throw a blinding flurry of punches that leaves the enemy reeling.
Mighty Mouse had two mouse girlfriends named Pearl Pureheart (in the cartoons) and Mitzi (in the comics during the 50s and 60s), and his arch-enemy is an evil villain cat named Oil Can Harry (who originated as a human in earlier Terrytoons as the enemy of Fanny Zilch). These characters were created for a series of Mighty Mouse cartoons that spoofed the old cliffhanger serials of the days of silent film; the cartoons usually began with Mighty Mouse and Pearl Pureheart already in a desperate situation, as if they were the next chapter of the serial. The characters often sang mock opera songs during these cartoons. Mighty Mouse was also known for singing "Here I come to save the day!" when flying into action. Mighty Mouse's home town is Mouseville, populated mostly by anthropomorphic toon mice.
Mighty Mouse fought other villains, though most only appeared in one or two cartoons. In at least two cartoons, he faced a huge, dim-witted but super-strong cat named Julius Pinhead "Schlabotka" (this cat's name was only spoken and never spelled out), whose strength rivaled Mighty Mouse's own. In another cartoon, titled The Green Line, the cats live on one side of the main street of a town and the mice on the other; a green line down the middle of the street serves as the dividing line. They agree to keep the peace as long as no one crosses it. An evil entity, a Satan cat, comes and starts the cats and mice fighting. Mighty Mouse appears and the evil spirit materializes tridents to attack him. This maneuver fails, and the devil cat disappears in a puff of smoke, like an air plane crashing to the ground. At the end, Mighty Mouse is cheered by mice and cats alike.
In the episode "Krakatoa", Mighty Mouse lassos the super-volcano Krakatoa, saving the island's inhabitants from the pyroclastic flow. Most memorably, a love-interest for Mighty Mouse makes her appearance, Krakatoa Katy. One line of her theme song is "Krakatoa Katy, she ain't no lady".
Mighty Mouse was not extraordinarily popular in theatrical cartoons, but was still Terrytoons' most popular character. What made him a cultural icon was television. Paul Terry sold the Terrytoon company to CBS television in 1955. The network began running The Mighty Mouse Playhouse in late 1955; it remained on the air for nearly twelve years (and featured The Mighty Heroes during the final season). Mighty Mouse cartoons became a staple of children's TV programming for a period of over thirty years, from the 1950s through the 1980s.
Despite the character's popularity on TV, Terrytoons produced only a handful of "Mighty Mouse" cartoons in the 1959-61 time frame; the company evidently believed that the existing library of "Mighty Mouse" episodes were enough to keep youngsters tuning in to CBS every Saturday morning.
Some early vinyl credits the original theme song to The Terrytooners, Mitch Miller and Orchestra, but recent publishing has generally credited The Sandpipers.(wikipedia)
Josie and the Pussycats Cartoons
Josie and the Pussycats (also known as She's Josie and Josie) is a teenage humor comic book about a fictitious rock band, created by Dan DeCarlo and published by Archie Comics. It was published from 1963 until 1982; since then, a number of one-shot special issues have appeared without regularity. It was adapted into a Saturday morning cartoon by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1970 and a live-action motion picture by Universal Studios and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 2001. Two albums were recorded under the name Josie and the Pussycats: one as the soundtrack for the 1970 cartoon series and the other as the soundtrack for the 2001 motion picture.
Josie was created in 1958 by comic book artist Dan DeCarlo, who based her on his wife (also named Josie). After spending a number of years attempting to sell Josie as a syndicated comic strip, he instead sold it to his main employer, Archie Comics, so that he could develop it into a bi-monthly comic book series. After being introduced in Archie's Gals 'n' Pals #23, the first issue of She's Josie appeared in February 1963, featuring level-headed, sweet-natured Josie (whose last name was given as either Jones or James), her blonde bombshell friend Melody, and the bookwormish brunette Pepper. These early years also featured the characters of Josie and Pepper's boyfriends Albert and Sock (real name "Socrates"), Albert's rival Alexander Cabot III, and Alex's twin sister Alexandra. Occasionally Josie and her friends would appear in "crossover" issues with the Archie characters. She's Josie was eventually shorted to just Josie, and was mildly successful during the rest of the 1960s. Josie and her gang also made irregular appearances in Pep Comics and Laugh Comics during the 1960s.
On March 2005, Archie announced that a Manga version of the title will be published under its helm, with the art of Tania del Rio, who was also responsible for the manga makeover of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. del Rio and company will first tackle Josie and the Pussycats with an introductory story, “Opening Act” in Tales from Riverdale Digest #3 on June 8. The band appeared in its manga form earlier in issue #68 of Sabrina, The Teenage Witch.
In Archie & Friends #96, the origin of the Pussycats was somewhat retconned. Josie Jones was cut from the school choir for singing in her own style. She met Valerie Smith, and the two decided to form a rock group called “Josie and the Pussycats.” In need of a drummer, they recruited Melody. It was Melody’s idea to wear cat-like outfits. They weren’t doing so well at first, but Alex really liked the group (though Alexandra could tell that what really interested him was Josie). Alex’s father agreed to let him be the manager, as long as he didn’t use his wealth to make them stars (they have to do it the hard way).
Then in Sabrina the Teenage Witch #72, a stranger named Alan gave them a helping hand carrying equipment. Josie, who was attracted to Alan already, grew jealous because she thought there was an attraction between Alan and Melody (though she may have been incorrect). Alex hired him as their stagehand (apparently, he wasn’t aware that Josie had a crush on Alan.) The manga focuses on the group's attempt to reach fame, rather than on their career after they have already achieved it. In the manga, Alan has a younger sister named Alison who has not been seen in other comics. Also in the manga, Alexandra tried to manage a rival rock trio called the Vixens. However, though glamorous, the three girls she chose for the group had no talent.
However, the manga version was not popular among Archie Comics readers who preferred the traditional style. It was removed from Archie & Friends after 9 issues (#96-#104). A Katy Keene revival replaced it (both were featured alongside each other in the latter part of the manga's run), though it too did not last long. Reprints of Josie and the Pussycats stories continue to appear in digest comics.(wikipedia)
